Since April 1988 Jim has served as the Area Director, Senior Area Director, and Field Associate “Player Coach” of the CBMC ministries and the CBMC Members and volunteers here in the Metro Mobile / Baldwin County areas.
CBMC stands for Christian Business Men’s Connection, and is an International ministry to men in the marketplace. The vision and mission of CBMC is, as Ambassadors for Christ, to help men to become the men that God created men to be. In April 1974, as a new Christian Jim began attending the CBMC weekly gathering of men and shortly thereafter became a member. After having attended a few of the weekly meetings one of the CBMC members, Tom Bealle, owner of an Architectural firm, offered to meet with him on a weekly basis to help Jim as a new Christian. Over the 2 years meeting with Tom he experienced the blessings of being disciple and mentored going through CBMC’s program, Operation Timothy. In the 2nd year Jim began to disciple and mentor a man through the Operation Timothy program, and has been helping men ever since, as he’s been helped.
Jim’s first career, spanning almost 28 years, started in Decatur, IL in 1960 when he began with the Mutual of Omaha Ins. Co. as an insurance salesman. In 1965 he was invited to their Home Office to help develop a new series of Life Insurance Sales / Marketing Training Programs and to be one of the instructors as some of the company’s veteran would come to the Home Office for the classroom training. He also went around the country conducting in-agency product introductions, sales meetings, and seminars. At the end of 2 years he was given the opportunity to enter into their 5 year Agency management training program by returning to the field to select, hire, field train, and supervise a sales force, which he completed to their satisfaction and returned to the Home Office to serve as a Regional Sales Director awaiting his appointment to his own agency. In January 1971 Jim and his family moved to Mobile when he was appointed General Manager for the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Companies with the responsibility for sales and policyowner service for the 16 counties in SW Alabama. Jim held this position until November 1, 1987 when he resigned his position to answer God’s call on his life to become the Area Director for CBMC in Mobile.
Jim and Judi, married for 59+ years, have been blessed with their daughter Tammy and son Todd and through them have been blessed with 2 granddaughters and 3 grandsons, and a year ago a daughter-in law.
